HELL CITYのダーブ・モリソンに参加させて頂いたアートプロジェクト：PINT SIZED PAINTINGS(簡単というとめっちゃミニな絵)いろんな彫師が二つのチビキャンバスに絵を描くコラボ展示、シンプルな楽しそうコンセプトや！そのギャラリーが世界のビッグなタトゥーコンベンションに廻るらしいんで生で見るチャンスはまぁまぁ高いでぇ。キャンバスのサイズは約50mm x 75mmなんで毛一本の筆やないと無理かも。虫眼鏡準備完了！
Durb Morrison of Hell City was kind enough to invite me to participate in the Pint Sized Paintings art project (Vol. II) Unfortunately I won’t make Vol. I which is travelling around the world to various conventions etc. (Including Hell City in 2010 no doubt) The project is simple – 2 canvases approximately 50mm x 75mm. Hope I have some single hair brushes lying around for this one.

今年のハロウィンはめっちゃやばかった！やっとこのわけわかんないコスプレ祭りがおもっきり日本の文化に入ってきた。（３１日のもりあがっていたアメ村はその現象の証拠になるぐらい）イベントやパーティが多過ぎて、この三日だけの最高なアートギャラリーも見逃しやすいから気をつけなきゃ。
Halloween in Osaka was pretty mad this year – if ever any proof was needed that the big H is now an official Japanese holiday in both spirit and practice, Amemura on the 31st was it! But amid all those crazy costumes and parties, you might have missed out on an amazing 3 day art show put on over at Psychowheels.

友達から電話あって、ぎりぎり間に合った！仕事の後チャリでダッシュにいってみた。
I nearly did – A good friend of mine alerted me just hours before the final curtain and I huffed it over on my bike as fast as I could to soak up the last few moments of PAINT IT BLACK 3rd. (As the name implies, it’s the 3rd annual installment of said gallery.)

カスタムカルチャーの影響されているアーティスト二人、WAREとGRIMB。
One Sculptor and One Painter – WARE (madsculptures) and GRIMB respectively, put on a true Krazy Kustom Kulture show with a unique Japanese twist!

Psychowheelsの隣の部屋にギャラリーが出来ていた。WAREのフィギュアモデルは綺麗にピンストされた飾り棚の中に飾られていて、GRIMBの絵はチェーンでかけられて、すごいかっこよかったぁ！二人の力を合わせられてめっちゃ迫力あった。
The gallery was set up in a cleared out and renovated storage space next to the shop. The two artists work really play well off each other and form a nice cohesive whole. WARE’s sculptures were housed in beautiful pinstriped cabinets interspersed with GRIMB’s nice hand-painted panels hung by hooks and chains.

細かいところまで本当に上手く彫られていて、丁寧に塗られていた！てかったいる脳みそ、エド・ロス風なモンスター等はよかったけど一番気に入っていたやつはやっぱりチンコまんじのヒトラーやった！ギャラリーの目玉になったゎ！
I was blown away by the detail in the lacquered brains, fez donning monkeys, and hotrodding monsters but really, it was the Hitler bust surrounded by a swastika of pink phallic penises that definitely stole the show.

短い期間やけどPSYCHOWHEELSの店にいろんなえぇ作品はずっと置いてあるんであの辺にいったらチェックしてな！（上にリンクされたブログにも写真いっぱいあるし）
Though the Paint it Black show was all too short, Psychowheels still has a nice collection of paintings, drawings, and figures permanently on display in their shop. If you’re in south Horie/Sennichimae, do yourself a favor and check em out! (more photos on those guys’ respective blogs linked above!)

INKSPOT 1977から帰って来たとこ。アートやグラフ好きが多くてめっちゃえぇパーティやったわ。
Just got back from Ink Spot a few hours ago… the party raged all through the night. At some point I think every level of the downtown building was balls-to-butts with wall-art aficionados.

ギャラリー現場はすごい感じやった。コラボの新作、新しい材料の実験、作品になりかけDJブースも本当にイベントのプラスになっていた。
CASPER, JOTA, KE-1, ZYS were all in rare form at the reception. New collaborations, material experimentation, and even a DJ booth that doubled as an installation really punctuated an already talent-packed show.

お知らせ：先週、僕はやっとSLRのカメラをゲットしたんで色々実験して撮ってみたんだが…機会の動きに全然慣れていなくて上手く撮れなくて申し訳ないが。よろしキュ！
Full disclosure: I finally got an SLR this week so all these photos are the result of an amateur masquerading as a pro.

DJブースにダミーカメラが付いていて、ちゃんと動いていてえぇ雰囲気やった！
The DJ booth was fashioned out of pipes, corregated cardboard, and foliage to mimic a typical Osakan abandoned lot. Littered with tags and complete with a moving dummy camera – they really nailed it! The booth filled the whole rear of the room and really made the environment.

ピンストでHELLOシールを描いているのは初めてみたゎ！
When’s the last time you saw someone pin-stripe a “Hello, my name is” sticker?

They’re at it again – some of Japan’s finest graffiti virtuosos (All born in the same year – 1977!) are at it again featuring a two part gallery – Yokohama in the East and Osaka in the West! 4 amazing artists – a single generation:

こないだSUNTORY MUSEUMの展示を見に行って来たぁ！やっぱりジブリは最高ぅ！ミヤザキ先生の線がうま過ぎアンドえぐ過ぎ！
An incredible collection of layout sheets on loan from the Ghibli museum is on display at Osaka’s Suntory museum until mid October. Highest recommendation! Miyazaki’s lines are jaw-droppingly amazing.

ただ、量が多過ぎて、僕みたいに変態の目でみたらえらい時間がかかる。２時間ぐらいが必要かも。
Just make sure you leave yourself enough time to see the whole thing, esp. if you’re a freak like me. It took like 2 hours to get through it all and that still wasn’t enough.

ベンも…ベンも…人間になるぅぅぅぅぅ！

展示が終わったら自分の好きなマクロクロスケもでっかい壁に貼れる！
After the gallery exhibit-goers have the chance to draw their own Makurokurosuke (see Totoro) and hang them on a giant wall.

このHPのタトゥー写真を更新したぁ！よかったらチェックすてください！CHOPSTICKのHPにもあるBENNYギャラリーは大分腐って来たんでちゃんと更新した。いつも遅なってすみま千円！

Updated tattoo photos in the gallery again. Including the old decrepit gallery washed up on the shores of the Chopstick HP. Sorry it took me so long to get around to that.

今週の生け花。また同じ種類のお花やけど二つの全然違う形や。長いのが多いんでそれに合わせたスタイルを選んだ。左の方はベーシックスタイル「りっせいたい」。今回は前に持ってきたんであまり水が見えない…が！ちゃんと上のとこにのぞいたらお水が少し見える。右の方は「しょくせいたい」。こういう場合は「線」「面」「ます」をみせたい。他の形と比べたらかなり自由やから楽しい！

This weeks Ikebana! Auuughh… I don’t want to type this in English… Ok, 1 set of flowers – two distinct styles! Since this week we have only long and tall flowers to work with we chose styles suitable for such flowers. The style on the left is rather orthodox with the flowers brought to the front, hiding most of the water. BUT if you look in the upper corner, you can still see a proper amount peeking through! On the left is a different style altogether. Rather than concerning itself with overall form, the main goal of this arrangement is to adequately show “line” “surface” and “mass.” It’s more free form, so you can really go wild with it!
